William Hurt
Born in Washington, D.C. on March 20, 1950, William McChord Hurt was an actor who won an Academy Award. He earned his first Oscar for best actor in 1986 by brilliantly portraying a homosexual inmate in Kiss of the Spider Woman. Hurt was diagnosed with advanced-stage prostate cancer, which spread to his bones in May 2018. He passed away at his home in Portland, Oregon, on March 13, 2022, at the age of seventy-one.
Marvin Lee Aday (Also Known As Meat Loaf)
Marvin Lee Aday had multiple names assigned to him. People also know him as Michael Lee Aday or Meat Loaf. The nick name meat loaf came from a hilarious encounter with his football coach. He accidentally stepped on his foot and his coach responded by calling him a ‘hunk of meat loaf’. And that was when it all started. Meat loaf was a popular singer and actor, and was renowned for his theater performances. The passing of Marvin Lee Aday has left many saddened beyond belief. He was only 74 when he died on 20th January 2022 due to COVID.
Sidney Poitier
Sidney Poitier broke barriers by being the first Bahamian actor to win the Academy Awards for Best Actor. He set the bar high after working hard in all his roles. The actor, director, and diplomat, was truly a jack of all trades as he excelled in all he did. His performance in Lilies of the Field was outclass and that got him the reward he deserved. He passed away on 6th January 2022 at the age of 94 due to series of health issues, including Alzheimer’s, heart failure, and prostate cancer. WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall who some fans also remember as Razor Ramon, died on 14th March at the age of 63. He was one of the most popular and decorated wrestlers to have never won the WWE championship. However he did win the heavyweight championships in other promotions like WCW. His on screen character was inspired by Tony Montana from Scarface. It was his creativity and the way he played the character that led to him being so popular with the crowd. He recently had a hip replacement surgery before his death. It seems that the complications from the surgery may have been the reason for multiple heart attacks that took his life.
Emilio Delgado
Emilio Delgado, a renowned American actor, gained immense recognition for his portrayal of Luis on Sesame Street. His incredible performance for 44 years filled the hearts of children globally with joy, affection, and warmth. Regrettably, Delgado was fighting a difficult battle with blood cancer for some time. His life came to an end due to multiple myeloma following a relentless fight. At the age of 81, he breathed his last in his New York City residence, comforted by the presence of his family. Delgado’s loss will deeply affect millions of young Sesame Street fans around the world.
Shinzo Abe
Shinzo Abe was one of Japan’s most beloved and popular Prime Ministers. He was also the longest reigning prime minister in the country. He resigned from as a Prime Minster in 2020 citing health concerns however he still stayed active in the country’s politics. On the morning of July 8th he was in Nara to speak at a political rally in support of one of the candidates from the Liberal Democratic Party. He was shot by a man named Tetsuya Yamagami who used a homemade gun to kill the former Prime Minister. Abe was shot multiple times and passed away around 5 hours after the shooting took place. He was 67 years old.
Ivana Trump
Ivana Trump, the first wife of former President of the United States, Donald Trump, passed away on 14th July at the age of 73. Even though when people mostly talk about Ivana, they talk about her being the wife of Donald Trump, but she was an independent woman who carved her own identity on the basic of her work in different fields. She was a businesswoman who also held position within the Trump Organization. She also participated in shows like The Big Brother and also appeared in cameo roles in movies like the First Wives Club. She died from blunt trauma due to falling down the stairs at her home in Manhattan.
Betty Davis
Betty Davis was popular funk musician back in the 1960s and 1970s. When she was just a little girl she saw her father dance like Elvis Presley and that influenced her to get into music. She was a flamboyant character in the music industry who was mostly known for her controversial sexual lyrics. She retired from music in the 1970s but made a brief comeback in 2019 when she released a new song with the title “A Little Bit Hot Tonight”. Danielle Maggio performed her song. Over the years she released a number of great albums which are still loved by fans of funk music. She died of cancer at the age of 77 on February 9th 2022.

By the mid-1960s, she had established herself as a leading actress and soon transitioned into comedy following her tenure with Antonioni. She is fondly remembered as the Queen of Italian Cinema. Unfortunately, the multi-talented actress passed away at 90 years old due to Alzheimer’s disease. She had been battling with the illness and due to subsequent complications, her health deteriorated. His debut work was titled “The Johnstown Flood,” following which, he penned numerous others. His most notable works include “Truman” and “John Adams,” which were later transitioned into a movie and show by HBO respectively. Throughout his life, McCullough’s literary prowess earned him numerous recognitions such as the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. He passed away in his residence at the age of 89 on August 7, 2022; the exact cause of his death remained undisclosed.
Vin Scully
The widely recognized sports announcer was born on November 29, 1927. He is most remembered for his play-by-play for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball matches. Growing up, Vin had to start to earn his living at a tender age, undertaking various jobs such as beer delivery. When he was only eight, his passion for baseball ignited, and he knew then that he wanted to be a sports announcer. Vin’s first stint as a sportscaster was broadcasting a match on the CBS Radio Network. Later, he joined the Dodgers as their sportscaster, a position he held for an impressive 66 years! Tony Sirico
Tony Sirico made his debut in the film industry in 1974 with the invention of the character Crazy Joe. He has roles in several films directed by Woody Allen, including “Bullets Over Broadway” and “Café Society,” among others. Most people are familiar with him because of his roles as gangsters on “The Sopranos” and in “Goodfellas,” such as Paulie Walnuts and Tony Stacks. Despite this, his breakthrough role as Paulie Walnuts on “The Sopranos” is where he gained the most outstanding recognition and became a household name. On July 8, Sirico passed away after a life that was 79 years long and full of accomplishments.
Gilbert Gottfried
Gilbert Gottfried was an iconic comedian who left this world blue at the age of 67. He made his first appearance in a New York theatre as a stand-up comedian in his early teens. From the 1980s onwards, he became a cast member of “Saturday Night Special”. He made frequent entries in famous TV shows and films, including “The Problem Child.” He earned excellent fame for voicing “Lago the parrot” in “Aladdin”. Later, he voiced ads for Alfac Insurance for a duck and a bird named “Digit” in “Cyberchase”. After a prolonged ailment, he died of recurrent ventricular tachycardia on April 12, 2022.
Jerry Uelsmann
Jerry Uelsmann, a pioneer in the arena of American photomontage, was acclaimed for his surreal work and received distinguished accolades such as the Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment, a Royal Photographic Society Fellowship, and Lucie Awards. Contrary to current trends, he never used digital tools to tweak his images. Rather, he dedicated numerous hours in the darkroom, crafting and layering various effects onto his images to evoke profound human emotions. From 1960 to 1998, Uelsmann shared his expertise as part of the faculty at the University of Florida. Over half a century, he left an indelible mark on modern photography through his numerous exhibitions. His creations continue to be showcased in various respected museums, including the Art Museum of New York and the Albert and Victoria Museum in the UK. Uelsmann passed away at the age of 87 on April 4th due to complications following a stroke.
Estelle Harris
The death of the veteran TV, stage, and comedian, Estelle Harris, was confirmed on April 3rd. She will be remembered for her role as “Estelle Costanza” that she played for 6 years in the sitcom “Seinfeld.” She also worked as a voice actor for Mrs. Potato Head in “Toy Story 2” and appeared as “Murial” in the Disney sitcom “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” with her shrieking, pitched voice. She frequently appeared as a guest star in the “Night Court”. She died a natural death at her home in California. She was 93 years old.
Patrick Demarchelier
Patrick Demarchelier, a French fashion photographer, had the distinction of being the first non-British royal photographer. Known for his innate artistic ability and a keen eye for vintage aesthetics and style, he became the personal photographer of Diana. His work spanned across major brands like “Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar”, where he produced memorable cover photos and portraits. Demarchelier was also involved in advertising campaigns for high-profile brands such as Chanel, Dior, LV, and Giorgio Armani. The French government recognized his contributions by awarding him the “Order of Arts and Letters”. On March 31, he passed away at the ripe age of 78. Naomi Judd, mother to famous actress Ashley Judd tragically lost her life at the age of 76 by a self-inflicted gunshot injury on 30th April 2022. She is known to have suffered from different mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety which primarily, resulted in her tragic demise. Naomi Judd was a country singer who sang along with her mother and daughter and made a well-known career. The group earned 5 Grammys and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She is survived by her two famous and well-known daughters, singer Wynonna Judd and Actress Ashley Judd.
Margaret Keane
Through her paintings, Margaret Keane’s “Big Eye Waifs,” as she called them, became famous in the 1960s. Since her husband Walter lied and said the paintings were his, most of Keane’s career was wasted. So, not many people appreciated all the hard work she did. After a judge ordered Margaret Keane and her ex-husband to paint in court to figure out who was the real artist, it took until 1986 for them to get their art back. In 1965, both Keanes tried to get a divorce. Margaret died on Sunday at her home in Napa Valley, California. She was 94 years old. Until the day she died, she worked hard as an artist.
Taylor Hawkins
Taylor Hawkins, was born on the 17th of February 1972, in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S. He was a well-known American musician who spent most of his childhood in Laguna, California. After graduating high school, Hawkins worked with famous musicians like Sarah Jordan and Alanis Morrisette. He had been a fan of a band called the Foo Fighters for the longest time. Once he came to know the band was searching for a new drummer on the radio, he called the band’s lead singer Dave Grohl immediately. Hawkins, known as the band’s “spirit animal,” recorded nine albums and won fifteen awards with the Foo Fighters. However, on March 25, 2022, Taylor Hawkins left his fans and colleagues devastated and shocked as he died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 50 years old.

In the early 1960s, he started writing baseball-related pieces for his employer’s magazine. Since then, he has garnered several honors for his work. An ESPN award for this author’s body of work was granted in 2011 for literary sports writing. The Baseball Writers’ Association of America awarded him their Career Excellence Award that year (2014). These two prizes acknowledge outstanding sports writing. In 2022, Roger Angell passed away on this day. He was a 101-year-old man.

He was also the founder of the Plum Village Tradition. The Buddhist monk and teacher has written multiple books and has many books based on him. All of which promote the idea of peace and Buddhist teachings. Unfortunately, the wise one suffered a stroke in 2014 that had left him unable to speak. Since then, his health deteriorated and his death was not unexpected. He died at the age of 95 on 22nd January 2022.

Maria Ewing, the notable, passionate, and melodious Opera singer who sang the soprano and mezzo-soprano roles passed away at the age of 71. She was fighting a battle with cancer, and lost the battle on 9th January 2022. We all remember her by her powerful and dramatic performances at leading houses. He was born on December 24, 1936, in Huntington, New York, US, and began photojournalism at the age of fifteen years. He is famous for his work for Time Magazine, UPI, and Life Magazine, where he has shared numerous world-shaking events. Apart from photographing notable personalities like Richard M. Nixon, he has also captured numerous domestic protests. Throughout the late twentieth century, Halstead documented major world events like the Vietnam War, five political administrations, and the fall of Saigon in 1975. Known for capturing the world’s harrowing events intelligently, Dirck Halstead died on Friday, March 25, 2022, in Boquete, Panama. He was eighty-five years old.
Madeleine Albright
Madeleine Jana Korbel Albright was the first female secretary of the United States of America. On May 15, 1937, Madeleine Albright was born in Prague, Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia). Her family fled to England in 1939 due to the Nazi’s invasion of Czechoslovakia. By 1948 they had immigrated to the United States after a Soviet-sponsored Communist coup held control in Prague. In 1959, Albright graduated from Wellesley College and obtained a Ph.D. from Columbia University, NY, in 1975. She worked for several NGOs and taught international affairs at Georgetown University from 1982 to 1993. During Clinton’s tenure, her political career began to rise as she was ambassador to the United Nations in 1993. Madeleine Albright died at eighty-four from cancer on March 23, 2022, in Washington, D.C. Several political dignitaries, including Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, attended her funeral.

P.J. O’Rourke
P.J. O’Rourke was a well-known American journalist, renowned for his libertarian political satire. He contributed regularly to The Weekly Standard, The American Spectator, and The Atlantic Monthly, and wrote columns for The Daily Beast from 2011 to 2016. He was the author of more than twenty books covering a range of topics including cars, economy, and politics. In 2008, O’Rourke disclosed that he was battling rectal cancer, which had a 95% likelihood of successful treatment. Despite this, he ultimately succumbed to lung cancer in early 2022, at his home in New Hampshire. At the age of seventy-four, he passed away, leaving behind his three children.
Ivan Reitman
Born in Czechoslovakia, Ivan Reitman was a renowned producer, director, and scriptwriter for both film and television in Canada. His reputation surged in the 80s and 90s due to his exceptional work in comedy. He further cemented his legacy in the industry when he established The Montecito Picture Company in 1998. Known for directing films such as Ghostbusters I and II, Dave, Meatballs, Kindergarten Cop, Stripes, and Junior, among others, Reitman’s impact was indisputable. At the age of 75, he peacefully passed away in his Californian home during his sleep. His lengthy career and significant contributions to the American film industry ensure that he will always be cherished.
Robert Morse
A veteran of the Broadway industry, Robert Morse made himself known when he played a significant role in the production “The Matchmaker” in 1955. Since then, he has played multiple characters on Broadway, with him being significantly known for his performance in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, which earned him his first Tony Award. He later got his second Tony Award, when performing in the Broadway plat “Tru”. In TV, he has played a significant role in the famous TV show Mad Men, which earned him more popularity. On 20th April 2022 Robert Morse took his last breath at 90 because of heart failure.
Robert Mcfarlane
Robert Mcfarlane is a man that is controversial, to say the least. Working as a National Security Advisor under President Reagan, he was convicted of four counts of misdemeanor charges of holding information against Congress over making deals with Iran. It is important to mention that the scandal occurred after his term ended with President Reagan. This deal included an exchange of arms in return for hostages. Though President Bush later pardoned him, he still had to go through turmoil’s that he detailed in his book “Special Trust”. He passed on12th May 2022 at the age of 84 due to complications from a lung condition.
Orrin Hatch
Orrin Hatch was a unique figure in the senate, reaching a milestone that no other senator had achieved. He stood out as the only Republican who devoted forty years of his life serving diligently as a conservative, relentlessly striving for the prosperity of the nation. Despite his party affiliation, he was recognised for his openness to discuss various amendments and his receptiveness to opposing views. He made his mark by voting in nearly all bills that later became ratified laws. Unfortunately, he passed away at 88 due to issues arising from a stroke, which occurred a week prior, on April 23rd, 2022.
Richard Wald
Richard Wald, a legend in the journalism industry, passed away at the age of 92 on 13th May 2022 due to a severe stroke. A notable name in television history, Richard Wald made his debut as a New York Herald Tribune journalist and later ended up being the head of NBC News from 1973 to 1977. He then started working at ABC news leading the network to get its highest rating. After retirement from ABC News in 1999, he became a journalism professor at Columbia University. He is why ABC News and the network have managed to get this popularity.
